Polygala Root Extract is produced in Northeast, North, Northwest and Central China, and Sichuan; it is a perennial herb with strong main root and fleshy phloem. It has the functions of calming nerves, nourishing intelligence, expectorating, and reducing swelling. It is used for insomnia, forgetfulness and palpitations caused by heart-kidney incompatibility, trance, uncomfortable expectoration, sore swelling, and breast swelling and pain. IdoBio is processed into Polygala Root Extract with different proportions and contents through plant extraction process.

 

Pharmacological action of Polygala Root Extract 

 

1. Expectorant effect

Polygala contains plant saponins, which can stimulate the gastric mucosa and cause mild nausea, thus reflexively increase bronchial secretion and have an expectorant effect. The extract can be taken orally in dogs to promote tracheal secretion. The strength of action is: Polygala Polygala> Platycodon grandiflorum> Polygala. If phenol red is used for excretion, the method is: Polygala Polygala Polygala> Polygala platycodon. However, the oral administration of Polygala decoction 1g/kg in anesthetized dogs does not increase the secretion of tracheal mucus, which may be caused by the animal being under anesthesia.

2. Effect on the uterus

The decoction of Polygala from Northwest my country has a stimulant effect on the uterus of guinea pigs, rabbits, cats and dogs. Intravenous injection of 3-6 ml of 6.6% decoction (body weight 16.5 kg) can affect the uterus of pregnant dogs. There are also obvious excitatory effects.

3. Hemolysis

Polygala root extract is similar to platycodon. It contains saponins and has the effect of dissolving red blood cells. The intensity of hemolysis is: Polygala> Polygala> Platycodon grandiflorum. Polygala flesh (skin) has stronger hemolytic effect than Polygala wood.
