Medicinal use of Stachys baicalensis: The stem and leaves are astringent, carminative and deodorant. The whole plant is depurative, diuretic and haemostatic. Adecoction is used in the treatment of metrorrhagia, haematuria, jaundice and bacterial dysentery.


Habitat of the herb: the herb: Roadsides and waste places. Wet grassy areas and riverbanks at elevations of 200 - 1700 metres.
Edible parts of Stachys baicalensis: Young leaves - cooked.
Propagation of the herb: Seed - sow spring in a cold frame. When they are large enough to handle, prick the seedlings out into individual pots and grow them on in the greenhouse for their first winter. Plant them out into their permanent positions in late spring or early summer, after the last expected frosts. Division in spring.
