Other uses of the herb: Plants have large heart-shaped leaves that overlap to make an extremely effective weed suppressing ground cover. They form a carpet that roots as it spreads and should be spaced about 60cm apart each way.
Propagation of Phlomis russeliana: Seed - sow spring in a greenhouse and only just cover the seed. Germinates quickly. When they are large enough to handle, prick the seedlings out into individual pots and grow them on in the greenhouse for their first winter. Plant them out into their permanent positions in late spring or early summer, after the last expected frosts. Division in spring or autumn.
