Herb latin name: Lopseed,Lopseed Extract

Latin name: Phryma leptostachya

Family: Phrymaceae (Lopseed Family)

Medicinal use of Lopseed: A tea made from the roots was gargled as atreatment for sore throats and was drunk in the treatment of rheumatism, fevers etc. It is also depurative. Apoultice made from the roots is applied to sores, boils, carbuncles and cancers.


Habitat of the herb: the herb: Woods and thickets. Woods in hills and at low elevations in mountains all over Japan.
Other uses of Lopseed: The plant is considered to be insecticidal. No more details were given.
Propagation of the herb: Seed - we have no information for this species but suggest sowing the seed in late winter in a cold greenhouse. When they are large enough to handle, prick the seedlings out into individual pots and grow them on in the greenhouse for their first winter. Plant them out into their permanent positions in late spring or early summer, after the last expected frosts. Division in spring might also be possible.
