Herb latin name: Ironweed,Ironweed Extract

Latin name: Vernonia glauca

Family: Compositae

Medicinal use of Ironweed: The root is ablood tonic. It is used to regulate menstruation, relieve pain after childbirth and also in the treatment of stomach aches and bleeding. An infusion of the roots has been used as amouth wash to make loose teeth firm.


Habitat of the herb: the herb: Rich woods.
Propagation of Ironweed: Seed - we have no information for this species but suggest sowing the seed in a cold frame in early spring. When they are large enough to handle, prick the seedlings out into individual pots and grow them on in the greenhouse for at least their first winter. Plant them out into their permanent positions in late spring or early summer, after the last expected frosts. Division in spring.
