Medicinal use of California Hedgenettle: The leaves are disinfectant and stomachic. An infusion of the leaves has been used in the treatment of stomach aches. An infusion of the leaves and stems is applied as awash to wounds and infected sores or used as apoultice. Apoultice of the heated leaves has been used in the treatment of earaches and has also been applied to boils to bring them to ahead. Adecoction of the roots has been used as agargle to treat sore throats.Habitat of the herb: the herb: Sandy, gravelly or peaty shores and bogs.
Propagation of California Hedgenettle: Seed - sow spring in a cold frame. When they are large enough to handle, prick the seedlings out into individual pots and grow them on in the greenhouse for their first winter. Plant them out into their permanent positions in late spring or early summer, after the last expected frosts. Division in spring.
Cultivation of the herb: Sandy, gravelly or peaty shores and bogs.
