Herb latin name: Buerger's Figwort,Buerger's Figwort Extract

Latin name: Scrophularia buergeriana

Family: Scrophulariaceae (Figwort Family)

Medicinal use of Buerger's Figwort: The root is antiinflammatory, antipyretic, hypoglycaemic, hypotensive and vasodilator. It is used in Korea in the treatment of erysipelas, scrofula, goitre and phlegm.


Habitat of the herb: the herb: Grassy areas in lowlands. Lower mountain slopes and wet grassland at elevations of 200 - 1100 metres in Hebei, Henan, Jilin, Liaoning and Shandong Provinces of China.
Propagation of Buerger's Figwort: Seed - sow spring or autumn in a cold frame. When they are large enough to handle, prick the seedlings out into individual pots and plant them out in the summer. Division in spring. Larger divisions can be planted out direct into their permanent positions. We have found it best to pot up the smaller divisions and grow them on in a lightly shaded position in a cold frame, planting them out once they are well established in the summer.
